Kimon Tsinteris

Born January 17, 1981 in Athens, Greece

Died December 27, 2025 at home in Kensington, CA

Kimon loved the West Coast and being outdoors. He was a thrill-seeker— drawn to surfing, kitesurfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding. He was curious, intense, and passionate about everything he did.

He was happiest when hosting his diverse friends and family and generously sharing his love of music and cuisine with those around him. Kimon complemented his technical ability with exquisite taste as he held appreciation for good design and fidelity to a clean aesthetic. He was an enthusiastic traveler, crisscrossing the globe and deepening friendships and family connections while experiencing all that the world had to offer.

Born in Athens to Angelos Tsinteris and Pamela Steel, Kimon spent his childhood in Greece. At the age of ten, he moved to Connecticut with his mother and brother, Ion. He quickly adapted to the U.S., creating life-long friendships while returning every summer to Greece to spend time with his father and Greek grandmother.

During his school years he was an accomplished cross-country runner and the valedictorian of Pomperaug High School Class of 1998. Kimon earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Cornell University in 2002 before moving to the West Coast.

He was part of the SharePoint team at Microsoft and later a senior engineer at Apple, working on Maps for the iPhone. After his tenure at Apple, he co-founded Push Pop Press with Mike Matas. Their cutting edge immersive, feature-length digital book for Al Gore’s “Our Choice” won them the 2011 Apple Design Award for its innovative design.

Push Pop Press was then acquired by Facebook, where Kimon led a team of engineers to develop Paper and Instant Articles. After leaving Facebook, Kimon spent his remaining years exploring spirituality, new-found hobbies, and maintaining his close friendships. In 2024, he launched the Lotus Lab, a retreat to foster creativity and productivity.

Kimon is survived by his parents, Pamela Steel of Boston, Massachusetts and Angelos Tsinteris of Athens, Greece; his brother Ion Tsinteris, sister-in-law Pam Tsinteris and three nieces of Hopkinton, MA; and a sister Hanne Gjerde of Oslo, Norway.
